We’ve seen this happen before. A perfectly normal celebrity, like legendary Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, goes off the rails when he starts trying to come up with a baby name.

Gallagher, and his girlfriend Sara MacDonald, are expecting a child soon. If it’s a boy, according to a story in AZCentral.com, Gallagher gets to pick the name.

Here’s why this is a problem. “Chutney is a name I fancy if the baby is a geezer. Maybe Gizmo Gallagher, or Gilly Gallagher,”? said the expectant father-to-be. He continued: ? ”If it’s a girl, Sara’s already got the names picked out. But either way it’s gonna be legendary.”

I don’t ordinarily use this forum to speak directly to celebrities. I don’t view myself as the “Dear Abby” of the celebrity baby name world. But sometimes, you have to throw the rule book out? and do the right thing.

Mr. Gallagher, “Chutney” is not legendary. It’s dumb. Chutney is a condiment that you add to your curry on Saturday night after you leave the pub. It’s not a potential name for your little boy. As for Gizmo — are you trying to insult your son before he’s born? Gizmos are what you get for Christmas, in a box from a? store like the Sharper Image. The only similarity between a gizmo and a new baby is that you don’t know what to do with either one of them, but the similarity ends there. “Gizmo” is what you call something when you don’t know what else to call it. Is that the message you want to send to your? son?? 

I’ve made my point. I’d prefer? that baby Gallagher doesn’t end up on my Ten Most Notable Celebrity Baby Names of 2007 list in December, but I don’t hold out much hope.

Our thanks to reader Leni who emailed us a story about the arrival of Wesley Snipes’s third child, a son, born to wife Nikki on March 26. Few details are available yet, other than the birth itself. Oh, and the name.

The boy’s name is Alimayu Moa-T, according to the gossip site ContactMusic. I have no idea what it means. I guess we just have to wait until that, and other details, are forthcoming.

CAMERON DIAZ is one of the stars that you never know what to expect them to do. Sometimes, she hides her face, sometimes she attacks the photographer, and sometimes she is as friendly as she was yesterday at THE GYM ON NEMO, where she works out regularly. Could it be that exercise does actually help relieve stress and improve temperament? Works for Cameron!
Maybe I should get back in the gym? My temper could use some stress relief.
